Autumn 1941. Tobruk, North Africa
Tobruk is one of the most important ports in North Africa. Its importance has attracted the attention of the German and Italian armies.
The British Eighth Army is reeling under the relentless attack of Rommel’s Panzer divisions.
They are in desperate need of reinforcements.
If the garrison falls, Rommel will have a doorway to Egypt and a clear path to the Suez Canal.
The Garrison must not fall…
Wing Commander Ken Armstrong, is the senior RAF officer on board the HMS Ark Royal. Whilst delivering Hurricane fighters to a base in Malta, Armstrong is pulled into a far more dangerous mission.
It is time for Armstrong’s Secret Squadron to terrorise the enemy.
He must set up a secret air base, deep behind enemy lines and evoke a storm from the skies on the Panzer army.
The only way to effectively prevent Rommel’s progression is to operate from within Tobruk’s perimeter, some 120miles away from the nearest air strip.
If anyone can successfully achieve this feat, it is Wing Commander Armstrong.
Armstrong knows that whilst success can alter the course of the war, failure can only bring one outcome…
Desert Combat is the exciting third instalment in Robert Jackson’s popular Secret Squadron Series, and an enthralling Second World War aviation adventure.

I particularly likes the presentation of this installment from different participants on both sides. The history of the campaign has been fully presented in history but that in no way detracts from this story. While not the best I have ever read, it was worth the time spent and I recommend itProduct details

Desert Combat The Secret Squadron Book 5 edition by Robert Jackson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The minimum number of stars to go out in the environment they had to endure should be three
Enjoyed.
Good read
Author used actual history throughout the story to keep you interested. I just downloaded the next chapter in the series
This was an interesting story built around the fighting in North Africa during World War II. It is part of a series of books centered around World War II.
Well done, I am finished with the third book in the series,it's a good review of WW2 history, puts things in context as follows several of the war front lines simultaneously. Simple and well edited ,highly recommended
About half of the book was not truly about desert combat. The focus was primarily about the air war supporting the early north African campaign. Much of the book was predictable since I was familiar with the battle for Tobrok and El Alamein.
I particularly likes the presentation of this installment from different participants on both sides. The history of the campaign has been fully presented in history but that in no way detracts from this story. While not the best I have ever read, it was worth the time spent and I recommend it
