This is generally a marvelous book and well worth the price. The images are well presented. I would rate it at 5 stars if when you were looking at an image there were some kind of indication of which image you are looking at. You can go to an image from a table of contents or a thumbnail index but there is no indication associated with the image itself for the title or date.Product details

Eugene Boudin 400+ Impressionist Paintings Impressionism edition by Daniel Ankele Denise Ankele Eugene Boudin Arts Photography eBooks Reviews
As soon as I realized that the pictures were nothing more than large-size postage stamps, I cancelled the order. Very disappointing.
I love Boudin and have been fortunate to spend a lot of time researching him as well as seeing many of his works in person, not only here in the United States but in France as well. The Ankeles obviously love art and it shows in the examples of their many publications. However they got a few of the 'facts' regarding Boudin a bit off, but it is understandable since Boudin is a hard artist to research successfully.
One fact they have hit correctly and I applaud them for it is that Boudin was probably the first of only a handful of artists that painted in outdoor light, something that would soon become vogue for early French Impressionists like Monet and his cohorts. Because of Boudin, artists today seek studios with pure light, North-facing windows, etc... However, Boudin never ventured into commerce. He was a cabin boy into his early teens until he fell overboard. His mother, who sort of wore the pants in the family, immediately told the father to keep Eugene at home where he could go to a proper school. Here his talent for art was discovered and his teacher at the Academie that he attended helped him to fine tune his talent. Eugene's father would then quit sailing and be a frame maker in a fishing village in order to support Eugene's schooling.
However, these are facts that are often misrepresented on many 'wikis' throughout the internet and art world but can be verified by looking up some documentation in France as well as the Dale Archives in Washington, D.C.
However, splitting hairs over biographical facts aside, the pictorial collection the Ankeles have put together in this publication is impressive. Would be a great addition to any art lover as well as a high school art teacher in order to show his/her class who was the inspiration for Monet. If it wasn't for Boudin, we would never have had any "Water Lillies" to appreciate today.
For readers who love French artistic culture and Impressionist artistic movement. A wonderful series of pictures of one of the major landscapists of the 19th century.
